Cyndera has been my online identity for many, many years … so why change it now, right?
My real name is Aileen Marshall, born in Recklinghausen, Germany, and currently living in Maryland with my AmStaff Dutch, my cat Filly and two turtles that are planning to take over the world. I graduated from the Westfaelische Wilhelms-University Muenster, Germany, with a Master’s in English Linguistics. I also earned a Master’s in Library & Information Science from the University of South Carolina. Since I came to the United States, I’ve worked mostly in federal libraries/information & knowledge centers, either as an analyst, librarian or web developer.
I’ve been writing since I was about twelve years old, mostly poems and some fan fiction with friends (that you really, really don’t want to read). I published professional articles related to library & information science in general, and now I am working on my very first novel.
I love writing for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is probably because I want to give people what so many of my favorite writers have given me: worlds to dream about! Thanks to Bill Bryson, Donna Leon, John Scalzi, Orson Scott Card, and many others for keeping imagination alive, and thanks to my friends and family for believing in me. I owe you so much that there’s no possible way I could ever pay it back (but I promise you will all be featured in one story or another :P)
